| Vision
The vision of Ubumi project is to strengthen the community households
to respond to the needs of children affected or infected by HIV/AIDS
in Zambia.
Mission
Statement
Ubumi exists to provide quality care and support to orphans and
households living with orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC),
prevent the further spread of HIV/AIDS among children, alleviate
poverty and strengthen community response through effective community
sensitization and empowerment.
Objectives
1. To provide care and support to Orphans and other Vulnerable
Children (OVC) in Zambia as a way of mitigating the impact of
HIV/AIDS and poverty.
2. To promote understanding of the nature and prevent problems
faced by children in distress and orphans especially those whose
parents died from HIV/AIDS related complications, and its impact
on families and communities.
3. To offer services on information, education materials and strategies
to address the needs and problems of children in distress in the
community groups, NGOs and individuals.
4. To facilitate sustainability of household income (livelihoods)
and prevent the increase in the number of displaced children/street
kids through the promotion of women empowerment.
5. To build the capacity of two disadvantaged rural projects to
effectively and efficiently manage their activities by providing
logistical and technical support.
